Proverbs 1:1

"The proverbs of Solomon son of David King of Israel"

Solomon was a king gifted with wisdom directly from God. But he found wisdom polluted by foolish inclinations when he turned to false Gods. Therefore, Solomon is an example of how blessed one can be when they exercise wisdom in righteousness and how quickly they can be overcome with calamity when the worship of other Gods corrupts that wisdom.

Solomon's teachings are addressed to his sons and serve as a divinely inspired guide to biblical manhood. It could be said that these are the words of a king teaching his sons how to be kings. While I think some applications can also be made for women, the book focuses on men.

This is why I labored to begin my blogging series with a breakdown of proverbs. I wanted you to have a resource they could utilize to understand and walk in wisdom.

As we study this book verse by verse, I want you to imagine that you are the son being addressed in it because I think this practice will help you apply the word deeply and meaningfully.

Key Word: Proverbs- a concise allusion or parable that contains profound truth and meaning

.
