Proverbs 1:7
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Constructing a consistent understanding of reality without acknowledging the God who created it is like trying to assemble a puzzle with missing pieces and no reference picture.
Our understanding of ethics, truth, and reality must begin with God because they exist due to God's sustaining power.
Solomon acknowledged this when he declared that the fear of God is the starting point of knowledge. Fear is not the feeling experienced upon seeing a spider. It refers to faith and reverence.
Therefore, Solomon was stating that faith is essential for genuine understanding.
Secularism fails because it seeks to construct a perspective that employs Christian principles without acknowledging the Christian God. As a Christian, it is crucial to be cautious of perspectives that dictate what is right or wrong without proper justification. These views often cause numerous social justice ideologies to fail in delivering true justice, and they lead many Christians to align with movements that promise transformation but ultimately advocate for wrongdoing.
Place the truth of God's word above the folly of human words. As Christians, we have the privilege of divine revelation for marriage, finances, leadership, responsibility, and morality. Furthermore, we can look to Jesus as our savior and role model.
The truth of God's word is not only preferable to secular truth; it is also a necessary component of success in life.
